To Market, to Market...

One of the best things about New York in the summer is its street fairs and outdoor markets. It always makes me feel better about my purchases when they come from local farmers rather than the local Gristedes.

Fulton Stall Market, a new outdoor food market based in the stalls of South Street Seaport, opens today, featuring fresh fruits and veggies grown locally, as well as fish, organic breads, sweets, fair-trade coffees, artisan cheeses, flowers, and other specialty foods.

The market will be open Fridays and Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. throughout the summer, if you can manage to find your way to the tip of the island, support the local economy and buy "green". For more information and a list of vendors, click here.
