C is for Cookie

Thanks to all the loyal FF readers who voted for me to win "The Second Best Job in the World". Your votes had me in the top 10 seat, but unfortunately today's cut brought some heartbreak for this frugal little consumer. Without your support, I never would've made it as far as I did!

Now, onto today's post!

Feeling blue? (See above text.) If that pint of Ben & Jerry's isn't working, warm and tasty cookies certainly will!

On Saturday, you can support your cookie cravings and a good cause.

The "Sweet Angel" Holiday Cookie Swap and Bake Off challenges 25 volunteer bakers to conjur up five dozen of their signature holiday cookies as a "donation" to the Lower Eastside Girls' Club. Think "Iron Chef" meets Martha Stewart with a charity twist.

A $15 ticket/donation at the door will get guests an empty cookie tin to fill up with treats and a drink ticket for Mionetto Prosecco. Cookies will be sold for between 50 cents and $2 a piece, with all proceeds benefiting the Girls Club's programs.

Celebrity chefs and bakers will judge the Bake Off,  including Gina DePalma from Babbo, Myriam Eberhardt from DBGB Kitchen & Bar, Co-Editor Nichelle Stephens of Cupcakes Take The Cake and Sue Torres from Suenos. The winner receives a "Baker's Basket" of kitchen accessories valued at over $600.

When:  Saturday, Dec. 19, 1:00-3:00 PM

Where: The new Lower Eastside Girls Club's "Celebrate Cafe" at the Bowery Poetry Club,
308 Bowery at 1st Street
