Fleet Week

In addition to the much-anticipated three-day weekend coming up, May 26 kicks off Fleet Week in New York City.

Popularized by "Sex and the City" as a week of eye candy and men in uniform, Fleet Week honors the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. For those sticking around the Big Apple for Memorial Day, celebrations include military demonstrations and the chance to tour some of the visiting ships, witness musical performances by sailors and marines (think: "South Pacific"!), meet with the officers and watch the parade of ships in the harbor.

All events are free, excluding visits to the USS Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.
