Row, Row, Row Your Boat

No sailboat? No yacht docked in Connecticut to run off to on a sunny summer afternoon? No worries.

Manhattan may be surrounded by water, but very infrequently do New Yorkers actually find themselves in it... or floating luxuriously on top of it.

But, New Yorkers work with what we've got.

If you're looking for an afternoon outing on the peaceful open seas, er, ponds of two of New York's famed parks you've come to the right place.

Brooklyn's Prospect Park and Manhattan's Central Park make sure you never have to leave the city to enjoy being on a boat:

Prospect Park's Wollman Rink
Pedal your way around the park on a rented pedal boat.
Rental fee: $15/hour, plus $10 refundable deposit

Central Park's Loeb Boathouse
Enjoy a view of Manhattan's skyline from a row boat (seats up to four people per boat) or nine-foot Oceanic Kayak.
Rental fee: $12 first hour, $3 each additional 15 minutes. $30 cash deposit required per boat.
