Strolling Through the Winter Gardens

Looking for a holiday excursion? Tired of the battling tourists at the Rockefeller Christmas tree?

Watch model trains chug around a half-mile track dotted with 140 replica landmark New York buildings constructed of natural materials (nuts, tree bark, pine cones, leaves, fruit, etc.) at New York Botanical Garden's annual Holiday Train Show.

In addition to exploring 250 acres of gardens, visitors can sip hot chocolate, enjoy gingerbread houses made by local bakers and shop for last-minute gifts.

What you need to know:

Hours: 10:00 AM-7:00 PM daily through January 9, 2011 (closed on Christmas Day)

Admission: $15-$25. Advance ticket purchases are recommended. Tickets are available in 15-minute start time increments.
