The Next Outdoor Hot Spot

After ten years of planning, today the long-anticipated High Line is open to visitors.

This mile-and-a-half-long elevated park that spans over the Meatpacking District, West Chelsea and Clinton/Hell's Kitchen, is the reconstruction of a railroad line that’s been defunct since the 1980s.

Keep your pint-sized pooches at home, though. Dogs are currently not allowed on the walkway, but don’t fret – drinking alcohol is permitted in “designated areas."

For the next few days, the park can only be accessed via the Gansevoort Street entrance. Elevator service is available at 16th Street.

Check the High Line site for upcoming events and summer programs.

Score another point for the West Side!
