Celebrate National Doughnut Day!

Doesn't it seem like there's a national day or month for everything these days? Geeks, ice cream and even baked beans have their own very special holidays! And now so do doughnuts! Smart business move getting that day instituted, DD and Krispy Kreme!

Apparently the first Friday in June is dubbed "National Donut Day", and several FF readers have written in about the free doughnut offers going around because of it. Surprise, surprise, Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme are generously giving away doughnuts. With the purchase of any beverage, DD customers receive a doughnut gratuit. At Krispy Kreme, no purchase is necessary. Doughnuts for all while supplies last.

On a side note, one of random things I learned from my Japan trip earlier this year is that Krispy Kreme is all the rage in Tokyo. It's a relatively recent addition to the fast food fare offered, and on any given day the lines are dozens deep.
