The Nelson Mandela Foundation and 46664 want your help!This Saturday, July 18th, is Nelson Mandela Day (who knew there was a day?), bringing together people from around the world to fight poverty and promote reconciliation and peace.
If you’re free tomorrow afternoon and want to donate some of your time, the foundation is looking for volunteers to help organize a speaker series in Grand Central Station or to take part in the Clean a Park effort taking place at Sara D. Roosevelt Park on the Lower East Side. Similar events have been taking place all over the city for the past week.
On Saturday, Mandela Day 2009 will conclude with a special concert at Radio City Music Hall hosted by Whoopi Goldberg and will include performances by Stevie Wonder, Cyndi Lauper and others.
Additionally, you can watch and share this video to check out some more familiar faces already making their impact. You even have the ability to cut yourselves into the film and choose celebs to make your own version.
