Eleventh-Hour Gifts

It’s crunch time. Christmas is two days away and your sleigh is empty.  Stores are packed with everyone else in your same situation and all the best gifts have been thoroughly picked over.
What to do?
Here are a few last-minute gift ideas that are thoughtful, personal and under $25:
·      Charity donations:  Is your mom, dad, sister, yoga instructor, or dog walker passionate about a particular cause? Making a donation to a local non-profit organization is a great way to give something back during the holiday season. Plus, no one can complain that you’ve made a charity donation in their name.  No gift receipts required!

·       Handmade anything: Do you like to craft, bake, sew, construct? Try making personalized stationery or whipping up some holiday-inspired sweets (see great recipes here). There are myriad ways to impress friends and family even if your creative talent isn’t that impressive. Remember, it’s the thought that counts.

·       Make your own gift basket: Put together a themed basket of goodies or homemade gifts. Mom likes tea? How about some herbal teas, a pretty cup and saucer from any housewares store (TJMaxx, Marshalls or HomeGoods will usually do the trick) and some homemade Christmas cookies. Dad loves music? Buy a CD bin and fill it up with mixed CDs, an iTunes gift certificate and a copy of his favorite music mag.
