The Little Engines That Could

Why do the holidays become synonymous with model train shows, stories about trains (see The Polar Express), trains under Christmas trees?

The New York Transit Museum's 8th Annual Holiday Train Show has pulled into Grand Central Station and is on display from now through January 18.

For the first time, spectators can witness the MTA's regional rolling stock of Metro-North, Long Island Rail Road, commuter trains and New York City Subway cars will operate on the same bi-level 34-foot long layout, traveling through a Manhattan cityscape towards Santa's workshop at the North Pole.

The exhibit can be found in Grand Central Terminal next to the Station Master's Office.

For those who want more, The New York Transit Museum is located in Brooklyn and is open daily for a $5 admission price.
