Sold to the Highest Bidder

I've written about my love for Housing Works before. Run by volunteers, Housing Works is an upscale thrift store that donates all proceeds to helping homeless HIV-positive New Yorkers.

In addition to their in-store items, Housing Works auctions off furniture, clothing, jewelry, and housewares online at amazing steals every week.

Let's just say some people have been pining (eh hem) for a green velvet Pembroke chair and very cool monkey lamp for the past two weeks -- if only their bedroom wasn't 10'X7'.

If you're making a move to a new place or updating your broken IKEA furniture, Housing Works is the way to go. Pre-loved, often antique and certainly conversation pieces await those with eclectic tastes.

Crate & Barrel's blasé designs have nothing on HW!
