Waterfront Zumba

If only working out didn’t have to be so painful everyone would have a body like Gisèle, right?

Maybe not. But infusing a little fun into the tiresome workout routine can certainly heighten motivation.
While not a new concept, Zumba burst onto the fitness scene, and both the body-conscious and first-time fitness crowd have jumped on the bandwagon. A blend of Latin and international dance, Zumba combines fast and slow rhythms to give muscles a total body workout that tones, sculpts and burns fat.
Created by a Colombian dancer and choreographer, Zumba allows participants to get physical while learning some brand new moves to take back to the club. The choreography draws on influences from Bhangra, hip hop, reggaeton, belly dancing, salsa, meringue, salsa, and more.
Join fellow New Yorkers in a free Zumba class this Sunday, August 22, at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 1, from 3:30-4:30 PM. It's the last outdoor class of the summer but may inspire you to continue practicing those moves in front of the mirror all year round.
